Item Description

The Lockpicker is a utility tool that has two primary functions: unlocking and locking doors found in interiors. Using a lockpicker on a door with [LMB] will remove it from your inventory and attach it to a door, and after a period of 10s has elapsed, the door will change locked state and the lockpicker will detach, falling to the ground to be retrieved again. This allows for the lockpicker to be repeatedly used, unlike the commonly found keys one might discover on a moon.

Acquiring

The lockpicker can only be obtained by purchasing it via the store command in the terminal or personal terminal at a cost of 20■.

Tips

• The low weight and potentially unlimited uses of this item make it a very versatile and useful tool for navigation, especially on moons where a locked door is blocking progress to acquiring scrap necessary for the quota.

• The locking feature can be used to seal off sections of the interior that have been fully explored so that any entities that may spawn in that wing are likely trapped there.

• Can be used to verify the existence of a Mimic. If the lockpicker can be placed on a fire exit, it will cause the mimic to reveal itself as soon as the lockpicker has finished the task.
