A mostly docile creature, Hoarding Bugs are identified by their skittering, light, footsteps and their tendency to yell in an elated manner when spotting an Asset. These insect-like entities will actively roam around a facility searching for scrap items on the ground. Once an unattended scrap item is located by the creature, it will take it and attempt to return it to its nest - a location the creature and others of the same type has designated as a territory to gather and defend loot within, which typically happens to be the vent the creature originally emerged from. Assets who encounter these creatures are advised to leave them alone with their scrap for the best chance of survival, or if confrontation is necessary plan ahead by bringing a weapon to defend yourself with, such as a Shovel or Scrap Sign. These creatures have also been actively spotted attempting to utilise some of the items they collect in recent observations of recovered footage. They do not seem to understand these items fully to the same capacity as our employees, but still remain aware of when a Hoarding Bug may obtain a potentially dangerous object.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • Listen out for the presence of a Hoarding Bug if you believe one may be in close proximity. Attempt to gather any loot before the bug identifies it and marks it as its own property.

  • If you encounter a static Hoarding Bug defending loot, either find a way to circumnavigate the obstacle or be prepared by bringing a melee weapon if you plan to fight it.

  • Most of all, do not be afraid of these bugs. If you respect their territory, they'll often elect to ignore you.
