Jesters

<IDENTIFIER>
> JESTER

<CLARK'S DANGER LEVEL>

> 95%

<BEHAVIOUR>

> DORMANT / WINDING / ENRAGED

<SHOVEL HP>

> INVINCIBLE

Although a seemingly innocent-looking Jack-In-The-Box, the Jester has a far more sinister surprise contained within. Suspended by two pale legs, the Jester will navigate the map in a dormant state, searching for an Asset to follow. Once it has discovered and designated an Asset to follow, it will continue to do so for a seemingly random period of time, but typically this is around 30-40 seconds.

Once this period of time has elapsed, the Jester will then begin winding up the crank of the side of the box, playing a deadly rendition of "Pop Goes the Weasel". In this state the Jester will not move, and cannot be interrupted, but can be delayed from popping by using a Zap Gun. Once the song finishes, the box will pop and reveal a horrifying visage signifying it has entered an enraged state. The Jester will then begin chasing a random Asset, ramping up their speed as they move. In this state, they are unstoppable and will pursue their targets relentlessly, indicated by a series of heavy stomps. The only salvation for the crew at this point is to run, or die.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • If a Jester is spotted and begins following an Asset, make it known to your crew that it is present, and begin planning an escape from the facility immediately to minimise casualties.

  • Tools that can stun monsters will reset the Jesters movement speed during the enraged state. This includes the Zap Gun, Stun Grenade, Homemade Flashbang, and Radar Booster to name a few.

  • While the Jester is in the dormant state following you, try and work with your Terminal Operator to attempt to seal it behind a bulkhead to imprison it and prevent it from following the team.

  • When all Assets have left the facility, the Jester will begin winding down again after some time and start roaming for another target to follow.
