When escape from the facility seems near, the Mimic poses a final, indecisive threat to safety. This cunning creature hides within doorways and disguises its face as one of the many legitimate fire exits one would find throughout the facility, which would regularly signal escape to the employees. Mimics are absolutely indistinguishable from their fire exit counterparts while hidden. Company employees are urged to utilise the various tools at their disposal to reveal these deceptive entities:

  • Striking a Mimic with a melee weapon will cause it to growl, revealing it as a Mimic.

  • Using a Lockpicker on a Mimic will cause the Mimic to expose itself and attempt to grab a nearby Asset after the Lockpicker has finished cracking the lock open.

  • Using a Spray Can on a Mimic will cause it to growl, revealing it as a Mimic.

Without these tools, however, the employees are subject to a potential guessing game between fire exits where the outcome could potentially result in death. If a Mimic is triggered to attack in any way (either by forcibly revealing it with gear or opening the door), it will always kill the closest Asset to the door, typically the one who enraged it.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • Only trust fire exits that you or another employee have safely entered through if you do not have the means to reveal Mimics.

  • A Terminal Operator can verify the existence of a fire exit on their radar. This can be used to discern which ones are Mimics.

  • Mimics will only appear indoors. They will never replace an external fire exit.
